These images depict the progress of our agroforestry project located in the Catholic Diocese of Rulenge-Ngara, Tanzania, East Africa. The project is a growing initiative aimed at promoting environmental stewardship, sustainable agriculture, and social impact for the benefit of the local Church and surrounding communities.

Thanks to the financial support we have received from generous donors, the work continues under the close supervision of our dedicated staff. Despite limited resources, the team has been able to make significant progress—demonstrating transparency, accountability, and commitment to the mission.

In addition, the project has begun to create short-term employment opportunities for local residents. Neighbors in the area are hired and paid for each day they work on the farm, providing them with some income in a region where many have no access to regular jobs or support from government programs. However, when the available funds run out, the work must temporarily stop.

We remain hopeful and committed to this mission. We continue to appeal for support from individuals, organizations, and partners who are willing to contribute to this vital cause. Your assistance will help us build a self-sustaining agricultural system that not only supports the Diocese but also uplifts the poor and vulnerable in our rural communities.

Together, we can make a lasting difference—planting seeds of hope, sustainability, and dignity.

Our small-scale activities are continuing as the dry season has fully set in (June, 2025).  The land is very dry now but it's also the period when those who planted beans earlier are harvesting.

Holding the  fruits still hanging on the branches, they reflect on the potential this farm holds.  The site is a reminder that although only a few avocado trees exist now, there is a great need to expand the plantation.  A larger avocado farm would not only benefit the current community but al

    Update September 2025

At Maleba Farm, we are preparing the land for avocado cultivation. Before cutting down the trees, the first step is to clear the bushes and undergrowth around them. Once the area is cleared, the trees can then be uprooted using hoes so that they fall down safely. Afterward, a chainsaw operator will cut the trees into smaller pieces for firewood. The overall goal of this work is to clean and open up the land, making it ready for avocado farming. The next stage will be digging planting holes and adding manure to enrich the soil before planting the avocado seedlings.

The undergrowth has already been cleared, and the next step is cutting the trees into firewood. Once the trees are cut into firewood, the project coordinators have chosen to share this wood with orphans and secondary school students so they too may benefit from the project.   It is important to note that Maleba Farm is not just an agricultural project, but a community initiative to support the people of the Diocese of Rulenge-Ngara. The first beneficiaries are local workers who do not have formal employment but earn a daily wage from their labor on the farm.

This section of Maleba Farm has been prepared for coffee cultivation. The next step will be transplanting coffee seedlings, which have already been prepared by the government and private sector. In the future, as resources allow, we plan to establish our own nursery as well.

Mr. David Bukozo, one of the Maleba Farm staff, is seen in the field assessing how to begin digging holes as soon as possible in order to keep pace with the coming season. The number of coffee planting holes will depend on the funds available. With every contribution, more holes can be prepared, more seedlings planted, and greater hope brought to the community.

Maleba Farm workers are leaving the field after a day’s labor, paid for their efforts, and waiting to be called back once more funds are available. Their next task will be digging holes in preparation for planting coffee seedlings. Every contribution you make brings these workers back to the field, providing them with daily wages and helping move the project forward. Join us in bringing them back to work — your support plants hope for both the farm and the community

    With Grateful Hearts

The Maleba Farm project extends heartfelt thanks to all who have supported us through prayers and financial contributions. This initiative requires significant resources to succeed, yet we have not waited for all the funds to be in place before beginning. Step by step, with the little that is shared, we are moving forward — and even these small beginnings are already making a difference for the community.

Without your generosity and faith, the photos and progress you now see would not have been possible. Every gift, no matter how small, helps to employ local workers, prepare the land, and bring hope to families.

We humbly invite you to continue walking with us in prayer and sacrifice. God never tires of blessing those who share, and through Maleba Farm your support is directly reaching those in need. Together, we are cultivating not just avocados and coffee, but also dignity, hope, and a brighter future.

Updates will continue to be shared with you as the farm grows, including the real progress of the crops. Thank you for being part of this journey of faith and community.
