Planting Hope, Caring for God’s Creation
July 19, 2026Harvesting with Hope, Hard Work, and Determination.

At the moment, daily paid workers at Maleba Farm are busy harvesting maize by hand. In the fields, one can see young people working tirelessly, mothers carrying babies on their backs, and many other hardworking men and women doing their best under the hot sun. Their dedication and sacrifice reflect the true spirit of community, resilience, and hope.

Their dedication and sacrifice reflect the true spirit of community, resilience, and hope.
Because of this, we humbly appeal to friends, partners, and generous donors to support Maleba Farm by contributing toward modern harvesting equipment. We urgently need a maize harvesting machine as well as a machine for transporting harvested maize from the fields. These machines would greatly reduce the heavy burden carried by workers, save time, improve efficiency, and help protect the harvest from loss and damage.

At the same time, Maleba Farm continues to practice mixed farming. Within the same fields, there are beans that are expected to be harvested in June. In addition, there is also a growing coffee plantation that requires continuous weeding and proper care so that the coffee plants may receive enough sunlight, grow healthy, and mature quickly for a better future harvest.
Your support for Maleba Farm is not only support for agriculture, but also support for human dignity, family livelihood, environmental stewardship, and hope for a sustainable future. Every contribution, no matter how small, becomes a blessing to the many hardworking families whose lives depend on this farm.

Corn Shelling Using a Machine.
Maleba Farm Corn Harvest: A Mission of Hard Work, Hope, and Community Transformation
At Maleba Farm, the maize harvest season is a powerful sign of hard work and determination. Workers move through the fields carrying sacks of harvested corn on their heads and shoulders, gathering everything into one central place. Men, women, and young people work together tirelessly to ensure that no harvest is lost.

Once the maize has been piled together, workers begin feeding the corn into a maize shelling machine. Some carry the harvested maize from the storage pile to the shelling machine, while another worker carefully operates the machine from above, arranging the maize properly so it can move smoothly through the system. The machine separates the maize kernels from the cobs, leaving clean corn ready to be packed into sacks while the empty cobs are placed separately.
At the moment, Maleba Farm does not own a maize shelling machine. The machine currently being used has been rented, which increases operational costs and slows the growth of the project. Because of this, we humbly appeal to generous donors and supporters to help us purchase at least two maize shelling machines so that we can stop renting.

Each machine costs approximately $1,500, and owning these machines would not only support Maleba Farm but would also create a long-term income-generating opportunity. In the future, the project could rent these machines to local farmers at affordable rates, helping many farming families while also generating sustainable income for the farm project itself.
By supporting Maleba Farm, you are helping to fight poverty, create employment opportunities, increase family income, and strengthen sustainable agriculture within the community. Your contribution becomes more than a donation — it becomes an investment in dignity, self-reliance, and hope for a better future.
From the Fields to the Future: How Maleba Farm is Feeding Communities and Building Hope

After the maize has been shelled by the machine, it is carefully packed into sacks, tied securely, and prepared for transportation. Every part of this process is still done manually. The lifting, carrying, tying of sacks, and loading onto trucks are all carried out by hardworking laborers who are paid daily wages depending on the financial resources available at the time.
This year’s harvest has already been transported to a diocesan secondary school, where the maize is being safely stored in the school warehouse. The school itself will later purchase the maize to provide food for its students. In many parts of Tanzania, maize is one of the most important crops because it produces flour used to prepare a traditional food called ugali.
Ugali is the staple food for millions of people across Tanzania. It is commonly eaten in homes, schools, and communities throughout the country. Made from maize flour and cooked into a thick meal, ugali provides daily nourishment for families, students, workers, and children. In many schools, including boarding schools, ugali is an essential part of students’ meals because it is affordable, filling, and culturally important.

In the picture, students can also be seen volunteering to help unload the maize sacks from a large truck and carry them into the storage facility. Their participation reflects the spirit of unity, cooperation, and shared responsibility that surrounds this project.
Because of these ongoing activities, we humbly appeal to generous donors and supporters to help Maleba Farm build its own storage warehouse near the farm. Having a nearby storage facility would greatly reduce transportation costs and prevent the urgent need to move harvested maize long distances immediately after harvest.

At present, the Maleba Farm Project also lacks basic infrastructure. There are no offices for coordinating project activities and no proper houses for farm guards or workers responsible for protecting the farm and its equipment. These are essential needs for the long-term growth and sustainability of the project.
We sincerely invite donors, friends, and people of goodwill to support and invest in the Maleba Farm Project. Your contribution will help strengthen sustainable agriculture, create employment opportunities, fight poverty, improve food security, and build a better future for both the present and coming generations. Every donation becomes a seed of hope planted in the lives of many people.
